INTERNET

The Web, the Internet, Online,
the Information Highway and all those things...

Yep. The Internet is cool. It’s transformed the world. It’s a powerful tool, but a tool nonetheless. Too often, people get fixated on the technology and lose sight of what it’s supposed to do for them.

You may have noticed the Wade Multimedia LLC Web site did not bombard you with spinning, tumbling, blinking anything. We like cool effects as much as the next guy. But we view them as message tools—not the message itself.

One Internet tool you may find useful is an e-mail newsletter. Wade Multimedia LLC advocates using them to compile news digests about developments of interest to your co-workers or clients. Recipients sign up or “opt in” as subscribers so you avoid the dreaded “spam” label. A key benefit is that you keep your brand in front of your target audience on a regular basis. It’s another way of applying the reach and repetition fundamentals of effective advertising. What’s more, it’s another way to use the power and reach of the Internet.

Vince Wade has worked as the substitute host on a nationally syndicated radio news program. It works like this: the program is sent to network headquarters as an mp3 audio file over the Internet. The network adds the appropriate commercials, and then distributes the program to radio stations nationwide—again over the Internet. This is one more example of how the Internet can be used for business-to-business applications.

Flash is a terrific web tool. The great thing about Flash is that it comes built in to most of the Web browsers on computers worldwide. That means the overwhelming majority of your visitors can view a Flash presentation.

Wade Multimedia LLC puts Flash to work in practical applications. It’s a great way to provide illustrated instructions on the Web or on a disc. To see an example of using Flash as part of a presentation about sexual harassment liability in the workplace, click here.

Users can also print Flash presentations. To see how Flash can be used to provide a “hard copy” users can take away from a presentation, click here.
